Sculptors have used almost all the materials that allow making three-dimensional shapes: mud or clay, stone, wood, metal, and new materials such as resins, plastics, glass fiber, etc. The list of materials is endless and the problems with restoration intervention are various.

There are, too, environmental factors that accelerate the deterioration of an artwork: pollution, vibrations, insects and microorganisms attack, incorrect handling and vandalism which result in missing pieces, breaks, cuttings, etc.

Intervention and restoration will result from the analysis of the deterioration of the artwork. It is indispensable to take the necessary steps to recover the structure, functionality and aesthetic of the piece of art.
